Here are some basic steps/requirements for Federal Firearms License (FFL):
- First thing you need is an application. There are two main types of application: ATF form 7 and ATF form 7CR. Form 7 is the basic FFL application and form 7CR is for becoming a licensed curio and relic collector. You can order this online or call the ATF directly.
- You have to be 21 or older.
- You cannot be prohibited from possessing firearms.
- If you violated any regulations of the Gun Control Act.

- You have an approved location or premises that will be used for conducting business or for your gun collection.
- Any business you are planning to conduct must not be prohibited under any state or local laws.
- You must comply with any local or state laws that may pertain to your business within 30 days of approval of your license.
- You must notify your local Chief of Police via a form, that you intend to apply for a license, and where the licensed location will be.
- You must provide a secure storage or safety devices for any firearms that you plan to sell on you location.
